ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Harish Patel to appear in Marvel’s ‘Eternals’

Harish Patel has confirmed that he will be part of Marvel’s upcoming film Eternals.
On May 3, 2021, Marvel Studios released a video titled Marvel Studios Celebrates The Movies.
The video looked back at previous Marvel films as well as unveiling the next phase of the popular Marvel saga.
The video of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 saw the likes of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, as well as Eternals.
However, a few social media users noticed Harish Patel standing beside Kumail Nanjiani.
This prompted a lot of excitement online and now, the actor has confirmed that he is part of the film but did not reveal details on his role.
He said: “Yes, the man you saw in the teaser is me.
“I can just confirm that I am doing Eternals but cannot speak about it right now.
“The makers haven’t even announced my name, and I will wait for them to do that.”
Harish made his acting debut in 1983 with Shyam Benegal’s Mandi and has starred in numerous films.
He has featured in the likes of Pyaar Mein Twist and Gunda.
Harish Patel has also achieved success on British screens, appearing in the Simon Pegg comedy Run Fatboy Run and the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street.
He is now set to appear in the MCU for the first time.
Eternals also marks the Marvel debut of several actors including Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee.
Kumail Nanjiani plays Kingo in the film.
Kumail previously revealed that he underwent a drastic body transformation for the role.
The Silicon Valley actor appeared on the Conan show where he explained how his life has changed since he showed off his muscular physique. He said:
“People expect me to be different and I’m really not. I’m slightly less interesting because I do talk about working out a lot.
“And I’m slightly less funny. Other than that… same guy.”
Kumail added: “This one guy was like, ‘I wish his voice would get a 6-pack’.”
He went on to say that the muscles are purely “decorative” to him:
“No, these muscles are decorative.
“They don’t do anything. They really don’t. [Wife] Emily [Gordon] will be like, ‘Can you open this jar for me?’ And I’m like, ‘Probably not’.”
A description of the film read: “Eternals features an exciting new team of Super-Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient beings who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years.
“Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.”
Eternals is directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloe Zhao.
It is set to release on November 5, 2021.
